Brecon Chocolates Celebrates 5 Years!
Brecon Chocolates celebrated turning 5 years old at the end of July 2023.
We’ve come a long way since we opened the shop in Lion Street, Brecon, (formerly Matthews the Jewellers), with a small production facility above the shop, where Nigel Matthews used to make jewellery, we made jewels of chocolates, often referred to as looking like marbles, or more recently paper weights.
We are now 85% own brand, and due to the success of the business in July 2021, we moved production out of the shop into a purpose built production facility outside Brecon town.
The business has grown thanks to locals and tourists alike who account for 80% of the turnover, as well as some select wholesale accounts and our online website, which we built when Covid hit.This has enabled visitors to the area to buy our chocolates when they get home.
Most recently we have gained the biggest contract of our chocolate career so far, providing Petit Fours for The Beach House Restaurant on Oxwich beach, which is a rosetted and Michelin star restaurant.
