Brecon Food Festival

Three people enjoying food at Brecon Food Festival

Last week we spoke to Andrew Powell…

Introduce Brecon Beacons Food Festival: Brecon Beacons Food Festival is an annual event bringing the best food and drink producers in and around the Brecon Beacons together for the public to enjoy. With over 50 exhibitors the day promises to show off the best local produce on offer as well as a variety of entertainment through the day.

When is the 2022 event and where will it be held? The Brecon Beacons Food Festival is now in its 25th year, being held on Saturday 1st October in the Brecon Market Hall.

How does it feel to be back up and running since Covid? It is great to be back in Brecon for the 2022 event after such a difficult few years, particularly for the food and drink exhibitors who will be there on the day. Many of these small businesses are looking forward to the event to get them back on track after a very damaging period of time through Covid.

Who are the team behind Brecon Food Festival? I’ve always been passionate about local food and drink, and have worked hard over the past 25 years to make the Brecon Beacons Food Festival a success. I thank all the local business, exhibitors and chefs that make every year’s event a success. I can’t wait for this year’s event that will no doubt be the best ever!

Why and when was the event started all those years ago? I started the event back in 1997 to give small food and drink producers a platform to show off their food and drink. I was amazed by the support of local people and visitors to the event, and since then the food festival has grown from strength to strength.

Give some details about the range of exhibitors? We already have over 45 exhibitors booked for this year’s event, with a broad range of food and drink. These include cheeses, breads, preserves, beers, ciders, spirits, cakes, and much more. Something for everyone!

What talks and demos will be on? We have lots planned for the day, including a masterclass tasting area, education area, music and much more throughout the day.

Are you still welcoming businesses to exhibit at the event? We are pleased to announce we are now fully booked for this year’s event. For those local or Welsh food producers that have missed out, please get in touch by emailing andrew@ breconbeaconsfoodfestival.co.uk, for a chance to be part of the 2023 food festival.

Who would you like to thank for making this event possible? A huge thank you to our first title sponsors for this year, Beacon Foods and A2Z Food Safety. Without the generosity of businesses like them, the event simply would not be possible. If you are a local business and are interested in supporting the event please get in touch.

Is there anything else you’d like our readers to know? Remember everyone is welcome! The event is free to attend and runs from 9.30am to 4.30pm. Come along and show your support to our local food and drink champions.
