Black Mountain Gates Ltd.

When was the business started? My name is Beau Louis and I set up Black Mountain Gates Ltd in September 2022.

What made you set up the business? Since my school days, I’ve had a passion for wood and metal work, clever engineering, and functional good- looking design. I was lucky to find gate manufacture through a friend - it gives me the design and hands- on craft outlet that I need, but also allows me to be out meeting people; I am a genuine ‘people person’. A big part of the drive for me to set up Black Mountain Gates was working out what people need and finding the best solution I can for their proper ty, and budget. I started small, but after a few jobs I did as a ‘hobby’, people saw what I could deliver, demands grew quickly, and I was able to run my own business.

Where are you based and what areas do you cover? We are based in Abergavenny, hence the business name, but our ongoing success has allowed me to train and build a bigger installation team, so we now provide service throughout Wales and across the border into England.

Tell us about the different gate options: A big reason why we have done so well is that we do big and small – we design, manufacture, fit and service most types of gates for most types of property. We cover traditional and modern wooden, metal, automated, and security gates - a lot of what we do is bespoke or custom- designed, so we can offer gates to suit most needs.

What is your ideal job / client? We provide our service for all types of customer. From huge estates and commercial sites to typical local Welsh homes and shops. I am as proud of the smaller jobs as I am the big projects.

Tell us about some recent projects: Recently, we had the privilege of crafting a stunning set of wrought iron gates for an historic estate, as well as a series of bespoke wooden gates for a luxury residential development. However, we manufacture, fit and service a lot of gates in the local community – ensuring we stay successful is a lot about being skilled in being diverse.

Sum your business up in five words: Quality, service, dedicated, craftsmanship, aftercare.
