Brecon Scan, Recycle, Reward Trial Extended

The Brecon Scan|Recycle|Reward trial is currently in full swing. Originally due to finish after 12 weeks, the trial has now been extended for another month until Wednesday 1st November. This will allow participants another four weeks to get scanning, recycling and earning cash rewards.

Over 1,000 people have already registered and are earning 10p every time they recycle a stickered drink container. So far, we have applied 254,000 stickers to drinks containers in Brecon shops. That’s over £25,400 worth of cash up for grabs! Look out for the green 10p stickers on drinks when you are shopping in Brecon.

The containers, which can be bought at most Brecon retailers, can be returned and recycled using your kerbside recycling boxes at home (if you live in Brecon), or via one of the on-the-go return points around the town.

Once finished, we will collect feedback from participants about the digital technology used for the trial, preferred choices for returning drink containers and data about the number of containers returned and rewards claimed. This will be used to determine whether Welsh Government can use the digital technology for a return deposit scheme in the future.
