Christmas at Ludlow Castle

It’s been a busy summer at Ludlow Castle, entertaining an audience of 20,000 with world renowned artists live on stage in the Outer Bailey, outdoor theatre, children’s trails and activities, and Henry VIII even paid us a visit! But as the nights draw in and the temperature drops, we are thinking ahead to Christmas. Ludlow Winter Festival returns for a second year over the weekend of 24th–26th November, with lots of exciting events and activities planned around the town, including Ludlow’s annual Christmas lights switch-on. Come and join us at the Castle as we join forces with Ludlow Food Festival for a magical evening; explore the ruin in a different light and, you never know, it might even be snowing in the Inner Bailey! Firm favourites from Ludlow Food Festival will be in our food quarter, along with a fully stocked bar, mulled wine and hot chocolate to warm you up.There will be an array of local choirs and singers entertaining you and opportunity to shop crafts and gifts in the Beacon Rooms. The event runs for three nights from Friday 24th November.

Tickets go on sale at a reduced, early bird price for local residents on Monday 2nd October before going on general sale on Friday 6th October. Father Christmas will visit us in December to meet children in his grotto and find out if they’ve been naughty or nice! The children will have time to chat about their interests and have their photo taken with Father Christmas. He’ll be accompanied by his elves and will have an age-appropriate gift for each child. Book your personalised time with Father Christmas via our website. Normal admission charges apply, plus £5 for each child visiting Father Christmas and receiving a gift.

Robins are delivering Christmas cards this year. Join the trail to discover which card has gone missing.
Chapter 66 will be providing mulled wine, hot chocolate, mince pies and sweet treats outside as well as in the restaurant-café. So wrap up warm and come join us for a magical experience in historic surroundings. For more information and to book tickets for these experiences, please visit our website www.ludlowcastle.com.
