Gwatkin Red Cow Tavern

Our hospitality and fantastic food had already gained huge popularity here at the Gwatkin family farm in Abbey Dore so we decided to make it a bigger part of what we do and opened the Gwatkin Red Cow Tavern.

Our veranda restaurant has been welcoming guests since late May and the team has grown to include several local staff and an outstanding full time chef.

We serve traditional food from the best of local ingredients cooked to an exceptional standard. You’ll also find a few twists on the traditional just to keep things interesting.

Our glass fronted restaurant is perfect through the winter too; cosy inside and beautiful views of the Golden Valley outside, where better to enjoy delicious, warming, hearty food?

Our ethos has always been to support local businesses, so we are proud to be serving Black Mountain Roast Coffee, Rowlestone Farmhouse Ice Cream,Two Farmers Crisps and of course our own Gwatkin Cider!

We wanted to offer the local community a new and different meeting place, the perfect excuse to get together over breakfast, lunch or an evening meal.

During your visit why not take a look at our rare breed poultry and sheep, or our vintage cider making equipment?

Booking is highly recommended and essential for our Sunday Roast, but do pop in if you’re passing you’ll always receive a warm welcome!

Our delicious Christmas Menu is available to book now for parties of eight or more between 3rd November and 17th December. Where better to celebrate with family and friends? You could always shop for Christmas presents in our Cider Shop too.
