Leave the Oven Cleaning to the Professionals

The older I get, the more I realise you have one life, so live it to the fullest. Do the things you love and, if you can pass on the things you don’t, do so to those that do!

For me, cleaning the oven is one of the worst things about being an adult.Yes, I sound dramatic! It’s a job that lots of us put off. And even when we do it, we roll up the sleeves, we scrub, we wipe ... and scrub some more, but somehow the results aren’t that great. Then a few days in, it’s back to looking dirty.

It’s taken until the age of 40, but last month I enlisted the help of Lewis Fletcher, a professionally trained oven cleaning technician.

Lewis is part of Oven Wizards. Established in 2004, Oven Wizards consistently delights its clients by providing a domestic oven cleaning service of the highest standard. I contacted Lewis via text message. He was extremely prompt in coming back to me.We booked an appointment for several weeks ahead. He arrived on time, I showed him where my oven was, with a slightly embarrassed and sad face. He put my mind at ease by instantly saying, “It’s fine, I’ve seen much worse!”. All Lewis needed was water and an electricity supply near his van that was parked on the drive. I work from home, so he was happy for me to leave him to it.

Being part of Oven Wizards, Lewis has a specially equipped van which has a large, heated, specialised dip tank mounted in the back which is used to soak the removable parts of the oven.

The first thing Lewis did was place all racks and shelving into the dip tank and leave them to soak. He then removed the door of the oven to make a thorough clean possible (99% of all doors are easily removed). The main body of the oven was then cleaned using fume free, biodegradable oven cleaning products which have been specially developed for Oven Wizards by their consultant chemist.

I checked in on Lewis about half way through. To my surprise he’d also tackled the extractor hood. The stainless steel was gleaming and the filters looked brand new. Being metal filters, they’d been placed in the dip tank to remove all traces of fat and grease.

Lewis was here for about four hours. In those four hours the whole Rangemaster had been brought back to showroom standards!

I also need to note that once Lewis had packed away, you wouldn’t have even known he’d been there. He had treated my home with the utmost respect, leaving no trace. When my husband came home that evening, he noticed the transformation ... I nearly told a white lie and said that it had been all my hard work. But no way would James have believed that!

Before Lewis left, we talked about having an annual clean. He has the knowledge and equipment to do the job effectively ... so that I can concentrate on some of the jobs I love, like gardening!

Being this clean has encouraged me to wipe it down after each use.Who knows how long this will last, as life is known to be busy, but at least I know Lewis is coming back in 2024!

Huge thanks for a super job.
