Q&A: The Riverside at Aymestrey
In the March 2022 issue of the Local Ludlow we spoke with Andy Link of the Riverside at Aymestrey to find out more about what The Riverside has to offer. The Riverside at Aymestrey has been accommodating guests since the 16th century. Voted ‘Best Tourism Pub’ in 2018, it’s clear to see how this luxury inn, nestled in the River Lugg Valley, continues to impress.
What kind of accommodation is available? All of our accommodation has recently been refurbished and individually furnished. We have four different kinds of accommodation available, ranging from snug double and king sized beds to our garden rooms, which are accessible via external steps and offer beautiful views of the valley. These secluded spots are perfect for romantic getaways. We also have suites overlooking the River Lugg. All accommodation is ensuite with complimentary Noble Isle toiletries, fluffy towels, and we can offer waffle dressing gowns upon request.
How can I book a stay with you? You can book online or you can contact us to discuss your needs and preferences. We pride ourselves on good quality customer service and would be more than happy to accommodate your wishes.
What kind of food do you offer? We pride ourselves on cooking everything to order. Our small team of chefs can cater for most dietary requirements, and we have an alternative plant-based menu available on request. We understand that a large part of the dining experience is the atmosphere and environment, so we have deliberately kept a traditional style in our bar and restaurant, with oak beams, log fires, candles, brick and stone to create the most relaxed and authentic experience for our customers.
We source all of our drinks locally or from the world’s finest breweries, distilleries and suppliers to give you the perfect addition to your fine dining experience. You can also eat outside by the river or in the terrace garden when the weather allows. We even have ‘dog tables’ available at the bar if you would like to dine with your four-legged friend! We just ask that you mention this when booking. You can book with us on our website (see front cover advert for details).
Climate change is at the forefront of all our minds these days. What do you do to lower your impact on the planet? We are very conscious of our carbon footprint, and we work on this in our cooking and food sourcing. Sustainability and ethical sourcing are important to us for our mussels and seafood. We also score well regarding food miles for British produce and Fair Trade sources for imports. The kitchen garden is an important ingredient in the creation of menus and our whole team works hard to prepare the ground, sow and reap the seasonal vegetables and fruits for our tables. We highly recommend you take a walk around our kitchen garden, it’s worth a wander.
