Save Mid-Wales Air Ambulance Campaign

Red Air Ambulance Helicopter landing

The campaign to keep the Wales Air Ambulance based at Welshpool in Mid Wales has reached an impressive milestone, with over 15,000 people signing a petition both online and on paper.

The area has been united in condemnation of the plans by the charity, who claim to have used ‘world- leading analysis’ to conclude that more missions can be run if the Mid and North Wales bases merged into a new location in North East Wales.

This move will cost lives of the people of Mid Wales, according to campaigners.

“This is an essential resource for Mid-Wales and closing it will put lives at risk,” said Dai Williams, who set up the Facebook page ‘Save Wales Air Ambulance – Welshpool Base’.

“We will not allow the Welshpool base to be closed before the people of Mid Wales have had their voices heard!”

Wales Air Ambulance have promised consultation before implementing any new plans which include the ability to run nearly 583 extra missions a year, according to their analysis.

But only 26 would be in Mid Wales, and campaigners fear the longer flight time to reach our rural area from north eastWales instead of Welshpool will impact the golden hour, which is a matter of life and death.

We ask people to support us by signing the petition this can be accessed both online and paper copies are currently available at the following places:anyone wishing to hold paper petitions so that local people can sign can contact Cynthia Duce at cyn.waamidwalescampaign@ gmail.com so that paper copies can be made available to them for people to sign.
