Warma UK

We sat down with Mike Cornish, Operations Manager at Warma UK and local Brecon resident.

Who are Warma UK? Warma UK are one of the UK’s leading providers of heating, solar, and home insulation grants. We’re on a mission to tell people about grants available under the governments Energy Company Obligation (ECO) scheme that are designed to cut resident’s energy bills, keep their homes warm and reduce emissions. We supercharge people’s home’s efficiency with the latest energy-efficient boilers, storage heaters, and heat pumps, and harness the power of the sun to generate free solar electricity, plus we’ll keep all that warmth in with whole house insulation!

Can you tell us more about ECO4? Absolutely. ECO, short for the Energy Company Obligation, has entered its fourth phase, known as ECO4. It is a key part of the government’s ‘Sustainable Warmth Strategy,’ to help households improve their energy efficiency, lower their bills, and reduce emissions. ECO4 is funded by the UK’s energy companies acting under government obligation. They pay for the home upgrades. Households do not have to pay back these grants, in some cases a small contribution is required but in 96% of Warma UK’s installations, upgrades are completely free.

How does Warma UK help people get a grant? The eligibility criteria and information required by the energy companies can be quite complex. That’s where we come in. People can either call us, visit our shop in Brecon or fill in our short online form and then we take it from there. If you’re eligible, we complete a survey of your property to identify the best measures, secure funding from the energy company and then our local engineers complete the installation. It is worth noting that Warma UK is one of the only companies in the UK that can install all measures including heating systems, whole house insulation and solar panels. What this means for the customer is we offer a very streamlined service, with one point of contact and one company managing all the upgrades.

Why are you opening a new shop in Brecon? We want everyone to know about these grants. In most cases they are completely free and have a huge benefit by making homes warmer and cutting energy bills. We operate nationally but we know that in Powys and surrounding counties there are a lot of properties that could be eligible for grants. Our shop in Brecon helps people have face to face conversations about the grants and lets our team connect with residents better, show them the equipment, give demonstrations and help people in the region lower their bills and make their homes warmer.

What sets your company apart from others in the industry? We’re one of the only companies that’s capable of installing all upgrades available under ECO4.This unique one-stop-shop approach ensures our customers enjoy a seamless end-to-end process, from the grant application to the installation. For our customers this is a huge benefit as it simplifies the process because they’re only dealing with one company. It makes the installation much quicker, and we’re available before, during and after the installation to answer any questions and make sure our customers get the most out of our upgrades.

What do you say to people who think these grants are too good to be true? We’d say do your research, read our reviews from thousands of very happy customers who are now enjoying a warmer home and lower bills. Come and speak to us, either on the phone or at our shop, and let us see if we can help you take back control of your energy bills and keep the warmth inside your home.

Anything else you want to tell our readers? We are committed to improving the efficiency of as many people’s homes as we can, the grants are out there and we can secure them for you, we want to slash the energy bills for as many people in Powys and surrounding counties as possible and we’d love to talk to you about how we can help.
