Utilising your home’s outdoor space can often be baffling, with as many options as there are ideas. David from Greenspace Living has some tips on how to extend the use of your garden space for longer during the spring, summer and into the autumn months.
Start by looking at the intended use for the space you’re trying to create. Is it a space to relax, entertain or a mixture of both? The next question you should ask, is where in the garden can I make the most of the most sunlight or be more sheltered from prevailing winds? Then the location should be considered; do I require a covered area? And what is the most accessible part of the garden for the intended use of the space? Once you have answered these questions, you’ll then open up the options available to you.
For a sunny space to relax or entertain, a composite decking area either positioned adjacent to the proper ty or fur ther in the garden, can create a zero maintenance
and non-slip option for garden furniture and summer BBQs.
A perfect spot might not seem obvious, but there are systems that can overcome gradients or challenging ground conditions to create a perfectly solid base, opening up previously ignored spaces for your new deck.
In contrast if you’re looking for a more sheltered space that you can enjoy in even inclement weather, then an aluminium veranda over a patio or a freestanding pergola over a deck provides the reassurance you need to extend the use of your garden for longer.
The critical thing is to really think about how you can maximise the space to increase the time spent in that area and realise the investment in every way.
If you’re still not sure where to turn, Greenspace Living will be happy to discuss your ideas in more detail.
