Ludlow Pride

This year, PRIDE Ludlow will be hosting a full weekend of entertainment for LGBTQ+ people and allies alike to enjoy.

Running from Friday 25th to Sunday 27th August, our weekend will be full of diverse events ranging from book readings, comedy, singing, dancing, interactive performances, drag, and much more! The weekend will end with our biggest Pride Festival in Ludlow Castle Square yet, followed by a Pride March that’ll lead us to an after party at Ludlow Brewery.

Activities are both free and ticketed, some are focused on the whole family, and some for people 18 and up. This year we’ve already hosted a drag night as a way to kick off Pride month, featuring performers from Shropshire’s premier nerdy drag troupe, Dungeons and Drag Kings, who performed a Pride-themed lipsync fundraiser.

We want to create oppor tunities for local queer people and provide an entertaining time for all LGBTQ+ people and allies alike, while raising awareness of the issues faced by the community.

We have a large social media presence and ties with local journalists, papers and radio. We promote events in locally distributed magazines and in and around the town, by supporting businesses, group members and educational outlets. We have previously run this initiative under the umbrella of another local festival. Feedback, however, suggested that, to move our festival forward, we would need to establish ourselves as an independent group.

PRIDE Ludlow is an independent community group, produced by the generosity of volunteers, donations and grants from local initiatives. Last year saw audience numbers climb, and bigger artists and performers come forward, but due to our own limited budget capabilities, we could not continue to support Pride without seeking further funding. This year, with the help of members of the local queer community coming together to create a steering group, we’ve been able to organise some fantastic events to make this our biggest year yet and put Ludlow’s LGBTQ+ community on the map!
