New in Town: Heart of the Wye

Sunset overlooking a yurt in a field

Introduce your business: Heart of the Wye is a new boutique camping site situated just a couple of miles from the charming town of Hay-on-Wye and a short drive from the Brecon Beacons National Park. We have five uniquely styled nomadic yurts each sleeping up to four, making them perfect for couples, families and friends to share. Overlooking the border between Hereford and Wales, each of our tents have a spectacular view of the sun setting over the rolling fields and orchards of the Golden Valley.

What facilities do you have on site? We are a small site, but we have excellent facilities. Inside your tent you will find a comfy double bed (with the option to add two extra singles) a seating area, and clothes rail. Each tent has a power pack which will power the lights and charge devices. In the area just outside, you can enjoy private decking with chairs, a sheltered picnic bench, and firepit with grill and accessories. Our communal spaces comprise of a newly refurbished campers’ kitchen, modern wash facilities and state of the art flushable compost toilets. Popular supper club and highly rated place to dine, Off Grid Gourmet, is located at the top of our orchard.

Tell us more about the accommodation options. Are you suitable for groups and do you accept dogs? We are pleased to be able to offer yurts on an individual basis, as well as exclusive hire of the whole site for larger groups wanting to be together in a peaceful and convenient location with lots of local activities to enjoy. We have two dog friendly accommodations, so no need to leave your furry friends behind!

Are you within walking distance of Hay? Hay-on- Wye is about three miles from the site, making it just under an hour to walk along footpaths.

What is your availability? We are open from April to mid-September on selected weekdays and weekends. Please check out our live availability calendar on our website. We are delighted to have had some early bookings already.

What made you start up this business? We know what we personally love when we go on holidays in the UK. We want to explore a beautiful setting, relax, and be welcomed with warmth by our hosts. It has been our dream to be able to offer that and more to guests coming to visit us. After spending many years teaching and my husband working in landscaping, we are excited to embark on this new chapter of our lives

Describe Heart of theWye in 5 words: Comfortable, quality, picturesque, rejuvenating, and friendly.

Anything else you’d like our readers to know? Preserving the environment is hugely important to us and we are working to ensure our campsite has minimal impact on the surrounding ecosystem. This includes: treating waste water on site, using alternative eco companies for cleaning products and waste disposal, encouraging our guests to recycle and not providing single use plastic (right down to our compostable coffee pods).
